Among our range of green tea you can find Genmaicha: a special green tea! In Japanese “Genmaicha” means “brown rice tea“. And yes! This traditional Japanese blend is made of green Bancha tea and puffed brown rice grains.
Originally, this tea was created to develop a cheaper alternative to the classic green tea for the Japanese working class. Rice being a very affordable commodity, it allowed us to consume less concentrated green tea and therefore less expensive.
This surprising blend, originally developed for economic reasons, turned out to be rich in flavor!
