Here are the steps of the Thé Gunpowder making process:
– Harvest: Like all teas, Gunpowder comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant. The leaves are traditionally harvested by hand. To make Gunpowder, only the first and second leaves are picked.
– Kneading: to release the aromas, the leaves are energetically kneaded just after harvesting.
– Fixing: to interrupt the natural oxidation of the leaf, it is put under a heat source. This step allows to fix the aromas in the heart of the leaf. It also allows to keep a beautiful green color.
– The rolling: after the fixing, the leaves are rolled, this is what makes the singularity of Gunpowder tea! Then the leaves are definitely dried to be exported to the 4 corners of the world!
